Connections and Funding
Our Connections & Funding team is here to help anyone with a disability have a good life in the community. We provide personalised local information and support.
We service the following areas: Tauranga, Papamoa, Te Puke, Whakatane, Opotiki, Rotorua, and Taupo. In Bay of Plenty we cover up to, but not including, Waihi.
Free Hearing Tests and Advice
Are you concerned about your hearing? We provide free hearing tests and can help you access funding for hearing aids and other assistive equipment. We also offer personalised support to help you manage your hearing impairment – at home, at work, and in social situations. Our services are completely independent and fully funded by the Ministry of Health.
Disability Information and Workshops
We provide numerous learning opportunities for autistic and disabled people, their families / whānau, and the people engaging and working with them. Our workshops, courses, and up-to-date information will give you a greater understanding of disabilities and enable disabled people to live the life they choose in their communities. You can read real-life stories and disability information in our Disability Info Hub.
Mobility Equipment and Living Aids
Mobility Centre is New Zealand’s mobility aid and equipment centre, offering an extensive range of mobility products and services including daily living aids, mobility scooters, walkers, braces and supports, and so much more.
You can view the extensive range online or come and see us at our Tauranga store. Alternatively, if you’re in Rotorua, you can view a small range of products at our local retail partner, QE Health Wellness & Spa.
If you are unable to travel safely on public transport, you may be eligible for subsidised taxi services with up to 50% off the normal fare.
