Your Way | Kia Roha Charitable Trust is an independent not-for-profit organisation working with disabled people and their whānau in their communities across Aotearoa, New Zealand. We have over 40 years of experience, and most of our staff, all our trustees, and all our disability leadership groups are disabled people or have lived experience through close family members with disability.
Your Way | Kia Roha is governed by a Trust Board (Board) with the Chief Executive reporting to them. The role of the Board is to govern, and it does so through strategic leadership, clear delegation, and effective oversight of Your Way | Kia Roha activities.
About the role
Your Way | Kia Roha is passionate about building the leaders of tomorrow, particularly people living with disabilities who are seeking board positions.
We seek an individual to mentor, developing their skills and knowledge to create a pathway for future board roles.
Our goal is to provide the successful Governance Mentee with valuable learning and experience to support their future governance career opportunities.
During the term, you will have a dedicated board mentor and access to further board learning and development.

- A passion for learning.
The successful candidate will be familiar with the disability space through lived experience. You will also have no or very limited board experience but a desire to seek governance appointments in the future.
You must be available to attend board meetings, learning and development sessions, individual and committee meetings, and workshops.
This role is for one year. The successful candidate will be awarded a scholarship payment of $150 per fortnight ($3,900 annually)
