Connections and Funding Manager – Lower Hutt

We are looking for an experienced Manager to lead our Connections & Funding team in Lower Hutt. 

The workload is varied, and no two days will be the same. You will be an important part of the Connections & Funding leadership team, exemplifying the values of our organisation and our mission to support disabled people and tāngata whaikaha Māori to thrive. You will ensure team members are coached and mentored in organisation and service policies and processes, reflecting our values and purpose in their work.

A quick learner, you will have strong personal resilience and be able to manage contract, monitoring and reporting requirements. You will facilitate responses to complex situations that arise for the people we support. An understanding of the disability sector, justice, child protection, education and health areas is an advantage. Growing strong and respectful relationships with key stakeholders is a key part of this diverse role.

This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week across five days based in Lower Hutt.

As a Connections and Funding Manager for Your Way | Kia Roha the successful applicant will:

  • Provide expert support, guidance and advice to team members as required to enable achievement of goals and objectives to meet contract KPI’s.
  • Undertake regular coaching to foster positive, effective working relationships. 
  • Build and maintain trusting, effective relationships with disabled people, whānau, community and government organisations that support our work and purpose.
  • Provide information and connect disabled people and tangata whaikaha Māori to natural, community and financial supports.  
  • Manage performance and development for the team, focused on KPI’s and continuous development for the team.
  • You will monitor reporting, financial, and physical resources.
  • Lead, facilitate, and participate in communities of practice.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience managing/supervising within a fast-paced team environment. 
  • Deep understanding and/or lived experience of a disability or personal experience as whānau member supporting a person with a disability or within the disability community.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and able to adapt communication skills to the situation at hand.
  • Experience working with client management systems, with proven competency at the intermediate ability in Microsoft office products.
  • Able to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels; puts others at ease; promotes harmony and consensus through diplomatic handling of disagreements and potential conflict.
  • Experience working within the Health and Disability sector, working within a NASC service would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, the Enabling Good Lives vision and principles and how to apply these in practice to increase disabled people’s options and decision making over their support and lives.
  • Cultural awareness, particularly in Te Ao Māori and Pasifika cultures.
