How to choose a mobility scooter

Thinking about getting a mobility scooter?

A mobility scooter can offer real independence to people who have difficulties with their mobility, allowing them to get out and stay connected with their community.

But there are lots of things to consider before you make a purchase. Like, how often will you use your scooter? And, how far do you intend to travel? What features will you need, or are there optional accessories like a windshield or rain canopy to improve your driving experience?

Mobility Centre store has a handy how-to guide to help you make your decision. Or visit a store in Hamilton, Lower Hutt, Papamoa, Rotorua or Gisborne and the team will talk you through the choices, including financing options and community grants you may be eligible to apply for. In some instances, they may even be able to come to you. Call 0800 008 011 to arrange a consultation in your home.

Purchasing a new mobility scooter is just the beginning of your journey. The Mobility Centre store team provides full driver training and information about how to care and maintain your scooter.

But the most important advice the team offers is how to use your mobility scooter safely. You can talk with them in-store about driver safety or enquire about a free mobility safety training workshop for community groups.
