Local Disability Leadership Group Call for Expressions of Interest

Image shows a man wearing a purple shirt with his service animal.Life Unlimited’s Needs Assessment & Service Co-ordination (NASC) service is inviting disabled people, especially people who are using or have used NASC services, to join our Local Disability Leadership Group.

We are establishing the disability leadership groups locally as another way of ensuring that everything we do fully reflects the Enabling Good Lives (EGL) principles and vision.

We aim to ensure disabled people and their whānau have maximum choice and control over the supports they receive. We want to see disabled people in charge of deciding what support they need to have in place, organising and managing funding and other resources to make this happen.

The Local Disability Leadership Group (LDLG) will be an influential and authoritative part of creating and steering our NASC.

Our new LDLG will ensure that local disabled people and whānau members are leading, reviewing, making decisions, and holding us accountable for the ways we ensure that local disabled people and their whānau experience full choice and control in the local disability support system.

The LDLG will have between 6 & 8 members, and we are seeking the assistance of local disability organisations and leaders to help us with the appointment process.

Our Terms of Reference contain more information about the group’s role, time commitment, honorarium payments and training provided, as well as our Disability Leadership Policy.
